Ex-collection Dr John Yu, Sydney
Massim canoe bailers are a sophisticated form, often with a carved and painted band of motifs on the front, and the handle a freely suspended grip. When held vertically the canoe bailer becomes very mask-like. This a,most certainly is not accidental. Collected probably 1950s-1960s, it has been in the collection since the early 1970s.
