This is a fine old shield. It has various layers of paint when viewed closely; and a woven cane top edge, using very fine canework. The white painted design is unusual, having the typical circle in the centre, then a multitude radiating points, that may suggest an antropomorphic form (with multitude of arms and legs), or alternatively a “Sun” motif, with radiating rays. ey.
